"Cheezy" Popcorn
Healthy Snack Week, Day Four!
Today, I decided to try something I've been hearing a lot about lately:
The name doesn't sound very appetizing, but it has a flavor and consistency that is similar to parmesan cheese. And that is a great way to start using this healthy vegan and paleo staple--simply start using it on anything you would normally eat with parmesan cheese. You can also refer to it as "nooch," a nickname given to it by some in the vegan/paleo community to make it sound more appealing. I found it in the bulk bin section of my local health food store.
It's health benefits include:
And yes, it passed the kid test. Two kids gave it a thumbs up and asked for more!

- high in B Vitamins, including thiamine, folate, B-6 and niacin
- plant based
- gluten free
- no sodium
- a good source of protein and fiber
Here's a quick snack idea and a great way to introduce nutritional yeast into your diet.
Cheezy Popcorn
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unpopped organic popcorn
- 2 tbls extra virgin olive oil
- sea salt
- "Nooch" (Nutritional Yeast)
Directions:
Pop the popcorn, toss with the olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt. Sprinkle as much of the nutritional yeast on as desired, and toss with the popcorn. Enjoy!
